What is Holistic Therapy

Holistic Therapy is a form of healing that considers the whole person, Body, Mind and Spirit. The primary goal of holistic therapy in its practice, is to bring balance to all aspects of the individual.

When any one part of the body is in distress, the entire body becomes out of alignment. In this way, if a person has an imbalances within their physical, mental or spiritual aspects of self, their lives can be negatively affected and  their overall health.

David has studied Colour Therapy, Crystal Therapy and REIKI. He has given courses on Colour and Crystal Therapy at the Atlantis Institute, given talks at various venues on the subject and has two new books being published in 2019 A course in Colour Therapy and A course in Crystal Therapy.

David has also published the Mind – Heart Connection which demonstrates the importance of operating from our Heart Space and the holistic nature of positive affirmations.

In Holistic Therapy, David works with Colour Therapy, Crystal Therapy and REIKI in unison.

What is Colour Therapy

Colour is the byproduct of the spectrum of light, as it is reflected or absorbed, as received by the human eye and processed by the human brain.

Here’s a surface level overview of how it all works:

The world is full of light. Visible light is made of seven wavelength groups. These are the colours you see in a rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. The reddish colours are the long wavelengths. The greenish colours are the mid-size wavelengths. The bluish colour are the short wavelengths

When light hits objects, some of the wavelengths are absorbed and some are reflected, depending on the materials in the object. The reflected wavelengths are what we perceive as the object’s colour.

Our eyes are the input channels, if you will, for this light. One portion of the eye is called the retina and it contains four types of light sensors. First are the rods, which record brightness and darkness and from which we “see” a sort of coarse sketch of the world. Next are three types of cones, each one optimized to absorb a different spectrum range of visible light. One set of cones absorbs long wavelengths, the reds. Another absorbs mid-size wavelengths, the greens. The third absorbs short wavelengths, the blues. Together, these rods and cones gather the information that our brain then processes into one combined image. I have expanded on the eye and its physiology later in this module.

What this all means is that colour is a function of light and biology—which means that no two people see colour exactly the same or feel its vibration the same. The goal is to understand that colour isn’t an exact science and imply the modality the best way for the client.

Colour Therapy is an non evasive, very relaxing therapy, where the client will lay on a therapy table, very relaxed and be surrounded with different coloured silks and lights depending on the findings of the exploration discussion.

What is Crystal Therapy

To understand what Crystal Therapy is, you must first understand what a Crystal is.

A Crystal is a Mineral in its Stable Form, it has a recognizable structure made up of repeated arrangements of atoms known as a Crystal Lattice, a Crystal is only formed from a gas or liquid solution at the correct temperature and pressure and once Crystallized, A Mineral can remain unchanged for millions of years.

The word crystal comes from the ancient Greek word KRUSTALLOS – Meaning Frozen ice. The Ancients believed that clear quartz crystal was water frozen in time.

The scientific meaning of crystals is a solid material whose structure of atoms and molecules are arranged in an orderly repeating pattern extending in all three dimensions.

Scientist have also discovered that crystals have been around for more than 4 billion years.

In ancient times, physical and spiritual healing were not separate. When a person was ill, they were treated holistically, meaning that the physician would not consider the ailment, but the whole being – body, mind and spirit. They would look for any imbalance in the energy field (aura) of the person and treat them with the crystal needed to bring their energy field back into balance. With their energy balanced once again, everything slotted back into place and the individual healed.

If our energy is out of balance, we can experience: ill health, lack of well-being, tiredness, depression, stress, lack of self-esteem, inability to cope with ourselves and our life, just not feeling good. Physical, mental and emotional discomfort is often just blocked energy in the body which creates imbalance in us.

To be healthy, we need a high rate of vibration in all areas of our physical and energetic bodies. W need to have a clear Aura along with energizes and balanced Chakra’s. If something enters the body which irritates the system, such as a bad food entering our digestive system, or a stressful situation disturbing our peace of mind, the result is a slowing down in the normal vibration pattern of the body, a clogging in the Auric field and Chakra System which can cause dis-ease or illness. (Dis-ease is the body in a state of being “not-at-ease”). We are then more susceptible to negative energies and harmful environmental influences which can invade us, and the cycle of poor health becomes self-perpetuating.

Crystals are living breathing energetic entities which have been around for millions of years. They absorb negative energy and radiate positive healing energy. Crystals have been used for balancing and healing throughout the ages. Each crystal has its own vibration. The energy they transmit has powerful effects on the different energy vibrations in a human being and therefore used for balancing, harmonizing and attuning body, mind and spirit. Through this balancing and attuning, they help us heal ourselves.

I invite you to begin your new journey and ask that you open your heart to the wonderful possibilities that are available to you along this interesting and holistic journey.

Crystal Therapy is a non-evasive, very relaxing therapy, where the client will lay on a therapy table, very relaxed and be surrounded with different Crystals. Crystals may also be placed on the Meridian points and on the Chakra points depending on the findings of the exploration discussion.

What is REIKI

According to the International centre for Reiki training, Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words – Rei which means “God’s Wisdom or the Higher Power” and Ki which is “life force energy”. So Reiki is actually “spiritually guided life force energy.”

A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. Many have reported miraculous results.

Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and malady and always creates a beneficial effect. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.

An amazingly simple technique to learn, the ability to use Reiki is not taught in the usual sense, but is transferred to the student during a Reiki class. This ability is passed on during an “attunement” given by a Reiki master and allows the student to tap into an unlimited supply of “life force energy” to improve one’s health and enhance the quality of life.

Its use is not dependent on one’s intellectual capacity or spiritual development and therefore is available to everyone. It has been successfully taught to thousands of people of all ages and backgrounds.

While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion. It has no dogma, and there is nothing you must believe in order to learn and use Reiki. In fact, Reiki is not dependent on belief at all and will work whether you believe in it or not. Because Reiki comes from God, many people find that using Reiki puts them more in touch with the experience of their religion rather than having only an intellectual concept of it.

While Reiki is not a religion, it is still important to live and act in a way that promotes harmony with others. Mikao Usui, the founder of the Reiki system of natural healing, recommended that one practice certain simple ethical ideals to promote peace and harmony, which are nearly universal across all cultures.

Reiki is an non evasive, very relaxing therapy, where the client will lay on a therapy table, very relaxed and the therapist will lay his hands on the body to all an energy flow between the therapist and client.
